Whether you are a competitive adult amateur, pleasure rider or professional, my mission with Sound Movement Equine, LLC is to optimize your horse's physical performance and mental wellbeing with a combination of complementary holistic modalities such as massage, myofascial release, acupressure and more... Because when your horse is both mentally and physically relaxed, you can both do your best.
Serving Vashon/Maury Island, WA and surrounding lower Puget Sound Area (Gig Harbor, Ollala, Port Orchard)
I became an equine bodyworker because I was a (struggling) adult amateur showing competitively and wanted to help my horse train better and recover faster. Ever since, it has become a passion of mine to expand my knowledge and further understand why a horse moves the way they do and to help horses and horse owners just like me.
Pricing
Each session is tailored to each individual horse. They are typically 1-1.5 hours and include modalities such as: Trigger & Stress Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Lymphatic Drainage and Acupressure. $90.00/session
I will travel off-island for sessions, but do require a minimum of 3 sessions, relatively in close proximity to each other. I will also waive my travel fee ($25) if all sessions are at the same barn/venue.
I grew up in Gig Harbor, WA but after high school, I moved to beautiful Vashon Island, WA. I started working in performance barns (primarily dressage) and eventually discovered the Northwest School of Animal Massage. I first started studying equine massage to help my own horse's performance, who was struggling a bit in training and at our occasional local shows. After I started massaging her, I saw incredible improvements both mentally and physically for her and it led to an almost obsession... the next year I returned back to school and promptly took NWSAM's Performance and Rehabilitative level courses, learning Trigger and Stress Point therapy, Myofascial Release Techniques and Lymphatic Drainage Massage on top of my Foundational course training. After I completed my hands-on practicals and received my certifications in 2016, I passed the National Board Certification of Acupressure and Massage exam and began practicing professionally all over the Puget Sound area on both pleasure and performance horses.
A year into my business, I was blessed with a child and decided to “take a break” professionally to focus on my new job of becoming a mother. That break was admittedly longer than I had originally planned but it was a blessing in disguise. Not only is it one of the most cherished times of my life, but it also gave me the time to take another deep dive into learning more about horses and furthering my education. Since then, I have completed multiple online courses and in-person workshops on Equine Kinesiology Tape, Equine Biomechanics and Stretching, Equine Fascial Lines and recently became a Certified Equine Acupressure Practitioner (CEAP).
Once I felt like I had the capacity to balance being both a mother and a small business owner, in 2025 I rebranded and started Sound Movement Equine, LLC and that brings us to here we are today.
Each horse I have the pleasure of meeting teaches me something new and I am forever grateful to them for that. I look forward to seeing the horses, people, places and experiences this journey continues to bring into my life. Thank you for being here.
